windows sockets initialization failed

thanks for your support in the first place..

So, I read and did everything I could do:

1. netsh winsock reset catalog
2. netsh int ip reset log.txt
3. netsh int ip reset reset.log hit
But the little window with this message "windows sockets initialization failed"
ist still showing up.
What can I do else?

The commands above are pretty awesome to fix a broken network

However, there are a few more things you can try:

1 Remove network card from device manager and reboot

2 Find another realtek driver online and replace it (assuming you have a realtek card)

3 Make sure to disable your firewall temporarily

4 Make sure you entered the commands above correctly

5 Create a backup of this registry key HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Winsock and then delete it

6 Get a cheap network card from a local retailer for a few bucks and plug it in yourself into one of the PCI slots
